In September, 2006, I decided to take a series of trips to visit all the state capitols. Except for Alaska and Hawaii :)
The two previous trips in this series, The Northeast Tour and The Southeast Tour, were named by me. When I gave The Navigator the routing assignment for this trip, he asked if he could name it. I reluctantly agreed. I say reluctantly because The Navigator has a somewhat different outlook on life than me. I was afraid he'd name the trip, "The Trip To Visit All The Female Doggies" or somesuch nonsense. But actually he surprised me. As he got into the routing for this trip he noticed that almost all the states we'll visit are bounded by a major river. So he asked that this trip be named The River States Tour. And thus it is.
Visit the Route Overview page for specifics on this trip.
Like the previous state capitals trips, The Navigator has laborously laid out the trip using the fantastic Street Atlas mapping software from DeLorme. He claims this software is one of the best investments he's ever made. And he encouraged me to better organize this series of trips.
And now, come join us on the trip! Just click on one of the day pages above to get started.
