Looking at the flags at the top of the page, you might suspect we spent the day in Indiana. And you'd be partially correct. Today we also visited Michigan and it's capital, Lansing. See the pic below.

"They," whoever they are, say that the third time's the charm. And so Mr. Snoopy and I find ourselves, for the third night in a row, enjoying a warm room at Motel 6. The forecast low for tonight is 15 degrees. As far as sleeping in the van is concerned, anything below 20 is iffy at best.

Some of you may be wondering if I am now kicking myself for coming up North when I knew, in advance, there was all kinds of s-word up here. Those of you who know me best are not wondering at all. You're thinking, "He's an idiot. I expect him to do stupid stuff like this." Actually, everybody is right. I am kicking myself, but just a little. Mostly because we haven't been able to sleep in the van as much as I wanted. On the other hand, I have seen, slid on, stomped through, scraped off and cussed enough s-word to last me a long, long time. I was gonna try and blame this all on The Navigator. But he knows me too well. Before I could even get started he told me no way was he accepting responsibility for this. And that if I insisted his navigating days are over. Then he mumbled something about "respect" and "fair play," laid down and went to sleep. Talk about respect :)

Tonight we are just North of Indianapolis. So tomorrow we'll easily do that city and Columbus, OH. Then it's on to Louisville where this trip will be put on pause until Sunday, March 18 when we'll visit Frankfort, capital of KY and then return to Aiken.

Sorry there are only three pictures today. Maybe tomorow will be better.

June's head is gonna swell because 66% of the pix today are signs for her :) First one. The Navigator wishes to modify the slogan: Great Lakes, Great Times and lots and lots of s-word. The capitol of Michigan in the state's capital, Lansing. Another sign for June.

Some more bumper stickers from Betty in IA:

  • There is no shortcut to anywhere worth going
  • Caution: I drive like you do!
  • Guns don't kill people, drivers with cell phones do.
  • I've got a perfect body but it's in the trunk and beginning to smell
  • If Barbie is so popular, why do you have to buy her friends?
  • Your kid may be an honors student, but you're still an idiot.
  • All generalizations are false.
  • 4 out of 3 people have trouble with fractions
  • My mind is like a steel trap: rusty, dangerous, and banned in 37 states.
  • It's a dog eat dog world... And I'm wearing milkbone underwear!
  • I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather... Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

A quickie (his term :) from JP in FL:

A Polish immigrant went to the DMV to apply for a driver's license. First, of course, he had to take an eye sight test.

The DMV clerk showed him a card with the letters:

C Z W I X N O S T A C Z
"Can you read this?" the clerk asked.

Read it?" the Polish guy replied, "I know the guy."
