Today was mostly a hammer down day with a brief stop in Oklahoma City to take a pic of the state capitol.

Tonight we are camped at a Flying J (yeaaahhhh!) in Russellville, AR.

Not much else going on.

I really hope God has a special place for vandals. See pix below.

It's nice to see reasonable gasoline prices again. See stats below.

Oh, look! It's the Leaning Tower of Pisa leaning water tower in Oklahoma. Alanreed is a small town on I-40 about 60 miles East of Amarillo. The proprietor of the town's general store/Post Office/bar/hangout place has a great sense of humor. A close up of the population sign. Sorry for the crummy pic. The sun was in the wrong place. If you get in trouble in Alanreed, this is where you'll end up :)
What could be more American than cruising down the "Mother Road," Route 66 drinking Route 66 Beer? No need to worry about a DUI. Folks cruising Route 66 while drinking Route 66 Beer are DUI-exempt. Route 66 Beer is root beer :) June, if you decide to not keep this sign I can't blame you. Sick, really, really sick. I almost didn't post this pic. Flowers with a bee AND a butterfly. I got very lucky. Capitol of Oklahoma. Yes, that's an oil well in the front yard.
A much better sign for June.

Dorothy in SC tells us about an episode in heaven:

One day God was looking down at earth and saw all of the rascally behavior that was going on. So he called one of his angels to go to earth for a time. When he returned, he told God, "Yes, it is bad on Earth; 95% are misbehaving and only 5% are not."

God thought for a moment and said, "Maybe I had better send down another angel to get a second opinion." So God called another angel and sent him to earth for a time, too.

When the angel returned he went to God and said, "Yes, it's true. The earth is in decline; 95% are misbehaving, but 5% are being good."

God was not pleased. So he decided to email the 5% who were good, because He wanted to encourage them, give them a little something to help them keep going.

Do you know what the email said?

No?

Okay, just wondering. I didn't get one either.........

Some more grandparents stories from Bill in Louisville:

A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like: "We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods.

The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this in. At last she said, "I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!"

*****

My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, "Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?"

I mentally polished my halo while I asked, "No, how are we alike?"

"You're both old," he replied.
