Today is the Navigator's Birthday! Mr. Snoopy is eight today. I tried to have a party for him but he spent the day as usually does... snoozing.

Seriously. Happy Birthday Snoop! I am so happy you're in my life. I pray you have many more Birthdays!

Today's Narrative
 

Today we traveled from Louisville, KY to Henderson, KY which is near Owensboro, KY and Evansville, IN. We're currently camped in the Wal*Mart parking lot in Henderson.

Uneventful day. We're more or less paralleling the Ohio River. Some of the land around here is very, very flat. Reminds me of the panhandle of Texas.

As we got off Route 60 to come to the Wal*Mart I saw a sign that said Paducah, KY is 90 miles from here. We're getting off Route 60 in Wickliffe, KY which is near Paducah. So it's possible our trip will "end" tomorrow. After that there's the small matter of getting back to Aiken :)

Gonna take the Birthday Dog for a short walk.

"On the road again..." With apologies to Willie :) On the side of an auto repair shop. As stated before, I really like these old style water towers. I reckon they are a dying breed. Looking across the Ohio River from Cloversport, KY. That's the Land of Oz on the other side.
Bumpernuts! First pair I've seen in use. On the side of a small engine repair shop. Oops... a correction. The Navigator informs me he entered the wrong coordinates into the GPS unit. That is NOT the Land of Oz in the picture to the upper right. Rather, it's Indiana :)

New Fitness Exercise

This is for older people. Younger people try it at their own risk. This is working well for me.

For those of us getting along in years, here is a little secret for building your arm and shoulder muscles. You might want to adopt this regimen. Three days a week works well.

Begin by standing straight, with a 5-LB. potato sack in each hand. Extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can-try to reach a full minute. Relax.

After a few weeks, move up to 10-LB. potato sacks, and then 25-LB potato sacks, and then 50-LB. potato sacks, and eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-LB. potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight out for more than a full minute.

After you feel confident at that level, but being very careful not to overdo it, start putting a couple of potatoes in each of the sacks.
