Route 2 - Day 06 - Monday, June 28, 2004

 Today's Narrative

This was a day of hard driving. Back onto I69 and North to Lansing, MI where we picked up US127. Which eventually runs into I75. At about 6:30pm we crossed the Straits of Mackinaw (see bridge pix below) which is where Lake Huron and Lake Michigan come together. Impressive bridge. Shortly after that, 1,435 miles and 6 days after leaving Aiken, SC, we arrived at Route 2 (see pix below). I feel like the trip has finally started. Right now (8:45pm) we are stopped for the night in a rest area beside Lake Michigan in Naubinway, MI. We're about 50 yards from the water. There's a pretty stiff on shore breeze blowing and the white caps are rolling in. We'll be put to sleep tonight by an almost full moon and the sounds of the waves washing up on the beach. Nice!

Today we traveled from Anderson, IN to Naubinway, MI.

There has been a rumor going 'round that this trip is not real. That I'm really sitting at home making up all this stuff. To put down the rumor I present this picture :)

Wildflowers! Aren't they pretty? These were growing beside I75 just north of Lansing, MI.
Straits of Mackinaw Bridge. Sorry about the quality. Shot out of the windshield as we were crossing. The Navigator's comment, "Nice! Taking a picture while you're driving. I swear, you've got a death wish for both of us." My comment back to him, "No, just for you." Snappy comebacks always shut him up :) The trip along Route 2 to Seattle, WA finally begins!

I don't do drugs. I get the same effect just standing up fast.
 Joke Of The Day

More Cards You'll Never See At Hallmark

"As you grow older, Mom, I think of all the gifts you've given me.
Like the need for therapy..."

"Thanks for being a part of my life!
I never new what evil was before this!"

"Money is tight, times are hard, here's your @#$/& Christmas card!!!"

"Congratulations on your promotion.
Before you go, I would like you to take this knife out of my back.
You'll probably need it again."

"Someday I hope to get married, but not to you."
