So far this has been a very emotional trip. Yesterday I saw some of the devastation from Hurricane Katrina. Today I saw a guy get killed on a motorcycle. And, no, I'm not gonna write about it. Except to say it was very bloody and horrible. This also explains why, after driving on the Interstate all day, the average MPH in the stats below is so low. I really, really hope tomorrow is completely boring.

We stayed at a Pilot truck stop last night. Great sleeping weather, about 60 degrees. Got up this morning about 9:30 and took a shower in the truck stop. Very convenient. And just 9 bucks.

Today was mostly a traveling day. Saw a few sights. Nothing outstanding.

Right now we're parked outside a Days Inn motel "borrowing" their Wi-Fi access. It's really fast. So I can post the first two day's worth of pages and pix.

I'm not sure where we'll stop for the night. Here in San Antonio for sure because tomorrow is Alamo day. I'll take lots of pix for y'all. Anyway, The Navigator is partial to Pilot Travel Centers. I think he's impressed by the big trucks. I'm more in favor of finding a Wal*Mart parking lot. Much quieter :) We'll see.

Here ya go June. Another sign. Enjoy it. Texas is a big state. I reckon it will be Tues, maybe even Wed, before we make New Mexico. This is a cool mural. Built into a retaining wall for I-10. To give you some perspective, the panel is about 10 feet tall. I'm not sure what the mural is made of. Very smooth, almost glassy. But there's no joint where the color changes. Stephanie, you'd enjoy this. I made numerous inquiries and never did learn what she was hollering about. I did learn the creek was named about 100 years ago. You'll notice how I waited a long time to include a Wal*Mart truck in the pic :) (Not really, pure, dumb luck. I knew there was a truck going by but I didn't realize it was a Wally truck until I went to download the pic from the camera to the notebook.)

A sobering thought from Bubba Leroy in TX:

Clearly, we are doomed. We're all gonna die! In a mere 150 years, every man, woman and child now living on Earth will be completely dead!!!
